As our students and kids become more and more dependent on digitality to connect, study, and learn, the need for digital citizenship becomes even more persistent. As teachers, educators and parents we need to make sure our students are equipped not only with digital competencies and technological literacies that will help them make the best of technology in their daily lives but more importantly that they are prepared to responsibly and effectively navigate these novel digital learning environments. The ethos of digital citizenship are key to a safe and balanced digital well-being. To this end, I compiled these interesting resources to help you better incorporate digital citizenship in your instruction.
This is a multifaceted digital citizenship program from Google that includes an educational curriculum, interactive printable activities, interactive slides and flashcards, engaging games, and family guides. “Be Internet Awesome teaches kids the fundamentals of digital citizenship and safety so they can explore the online world with confidence.”
Common Sense has this interesting collection of digital citizenship resources to help students develop the skills necessary for browsing the web in confident, safe and responsible ways. These resources include interactive lesson plans, learning activities, videos, lesson slides, bilingual materials, customizable resources and many more. Lessons are organized by grades and topic.
